Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since March of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has won 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children together, so to win a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early break points in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
